Beware the Purple Dragon

               What to look for – a Purple Dragon sneaking up behind you and snatching your opportunities to further your career.  Oh, it’s real alright.  Every time you neglect to pursue your dreams, it’s right there.  

The day you said “No” to attending that webinar.  It could have led you to a better understanding of the new technology the company added to your computer.  Last week when you said “No” to volunteering on a committee.  You could have met someone who would have given you insight and inspiration.  Consider the opportunity you let go by to better your writing skills only if you would have taken that writing course.  The Purple Dragon will follow you as long as you succumb to indifference and laziness.  Yes, I said it – laziness.  

Where is your courage to take back your life of learning?  Where is that spark when you accomplish something totally of your own making?  Where is the pride you feel through your own efforts?  Don’t let the encompassing wings of the Purple Dragon slow you down.  You have important things to do.  Now go and do them.  Don’t let the Purple Dragon breathe its hot breath of paralyzing mediocrity.  You have much to offer.  Now go and live your life to the fullest.  

Only you can bring yourself back into your life.  Don’t rely on excuses for not following through.  It’s up to you to continue on a path that suits you.  It’s up to you to bring back the magic of saying “I did it.”  Imagine the pats on your back by fellow coworkers.  Image your manager stroking your ego.  Why? – because you did it.

The world is open to you and your ideas.  Fight the Purple Dragon.  Take charge of your life and do something spectacular.
